Joan M. Huslinger

Joan Marie Huslinger (Helt) of Stony Point passed away peacefully on April 4, 2026, with her loving family by her side, she was 59 years old. Joan was born on August 06, 1966, in Middletown New York to Norman Helt Sr. and Anne (McGuire) Helt. Joan was born into a large family, having eleven brothers and sisters. After graduating high school, Joan left home and joined the United States Army in March of 1985 and served her country with honor and distinction.

Joan married the love of her life, Christopher Huslinger Sr., on September 16, 1989, and moved to Stony Point where they raised their family together. Joan worked for many years for Union State Bank and the Haverstraw Transit Bus Company.

Joan is survived by her loving husband Chris, daughter Briana (Philip), son Christopher Jr. (Angelica), cherished grandchildren Dominick, Rylee, Charlotte, Emersyn, Madeline and grandson on the way; her siblings Dennis Helt, John Helt, Maureen Helt, Colleen Stewart, Beverly Tulino, Darlene Walsh and Alice Carlock, as well as her brother and sister in-laws Robert W. Huslinger (Rhonda), Stephen Huslinger, Mary Jeanne Drescher, Kevin Huslinger (Esther), her many nieces and nephews, friends and her faithful dog Cooper.

Joan is predeceased by her parents Norman Helt Sr. and Anne Helt, her father and mother-in-law Robert J. Huslinger and Catherine Eileen Huslinger (Cullen). Her siblings Norman Helt Jr., Martin Helt, Elsie Mae Andujar and Nick Helt as well as her sister-in-law Ellen Huslinger and brother-in-law Fred Drescher Sr.

Joan was the epitome of a strong and independent woman who wasn’t afraid to let you know what was on her mind, she was loved immensely and will be missed dearly by her family and all those who knew her.

Services to celebrate the life of Joan will be held on Sunday April 12, 2026, from 1:00pm – 5:00 pm at TJ McGowans Funeral home located at 71 N Central Hwy, Garnerville, New York. Repass to be held at the Elks.
