Jorge L. Estela

orge Luis Estela, born on April 16, 1945, in Villalba, Puerto Rico, entered into eternal rest on February 20, 2026. He was the beloved son of Jorge Estela and Raquel Figueroa.

On August 14, 1971, Jorge Luis married Ana Durán († March 1, 2021), with whom he shared a devoted and faith-filled union. Guided by a profound commitment to the Church, he was ordained a Deacon at Our Lady of Mercy in Bronx, NY during the early 1980s. He served his parish community with humility and dedication until relocating to Garnerville, New York, in April 1998, where he continued his ministry at St. Peter’s Church in Haverstraw, NY.

A man whose life was defined by service, compassion, and unwavering faith, Jorge Luis dedicated more than 40 years to the Cursillo Movement within the Archdiocese of New York. His leadership, spiritual guidance, and love for others left a lasting impact on countless lives.

He is survived by his daughter Ana (Anita) and her fiancé Patrick; his siblings Doel, Eduardo, Frank, and Olga; as well as his cherished nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his siblings Vigermina, Manuel, and Jorge. Among family and friends, he was also affectionately known as the dominoes champion, a title he earned through countless joyful gatherings filled and spirited games.

Family will receive friends on Friday, February 27th, from 3pm-8pm at TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home, 71 N. Central Highway, Garnerville, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 28th, 10:00am, at St. Peter’s Church, Haverstraw, followed by interment at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Route 9W, Haverstraw, NY.
