Sandra Sandy Jones

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Sandy Jones, who left this world on April 7, 2026, at the age of 71, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on April 18, 1954, Sandy grew up in Valley Cottage, New York, and later made her home in Middletown, where she built a life centered around love, family, and connection. She was the heart of her family—a loving wife, caring mother,  and the most doting grandmother. Nothing brought Sandy more joy than her grandchildren. They were truly the center of her world, and she poured every bit of her love into them. Her happiest moments were spent cheering them on, listening to their stories, and simply being together.

Sandy is survived by her beloved husband, Bill Jones; her son Shawn Werner, daughter-in-law Patty, and their children Charlotte, Benjamin, and Emily; her daughter Toni Vogel and her sons Justin, Josh, and Jonathan; and her daughter Lee Galway, son-in-law Scott, and their daughters Lyla, Molly, Sadie, and Heidi. She also leaves behind her loving sisters, Pennie Mercado and Candy Zimmerman, along with several nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.

One of Sandy’s greatest gifts was the way she made people feel. She truly never met a stranger. Whether in a grocery store line, at a grandchild’s event, or simply out in the community, she could start a conversation with anyone and walk away having made a new friend. Her warmth, kindness, humor, and genuine interest in others made everyone around her feel seen, welcomed, and cared for.

Even through her illness, Sandy’s love for her family never wavered. She faced each challenge with strength, grace, and the same caring spirit that defined her life, leaving behind a lasting example of resilience and unconditional love.

To know Sandy was to know love, laughter, and the comfort of always being welcomed with open arms. Her family was her greatest pride, and the love she gave them so freely will continue to live on in each of them. The memories she created, the traditions she nurtured, and the joy she brought into every room will be treasured forever.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Sandy’s life on Tuesday, April 14th, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at T.J. McGowan Sons Funeral Home in Haverstraw, NY.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that Sandy’s love remains all around us—in the stories we share, the laughter of her grandchildren, and the countless lives she touched with her beautiful spirit.

She will be missed beyond words and loved forever.
