Winifred Vanostrand

Winifred VanOstrand, 79, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 21, 2026, in Lakewood, New Jersey . A woman of extraordinary beauty, strength, and love.

Winnie as many called her was born June 9, 1946, to Franklin Babbitt Kirk and Winifred Twardoks, in Nyack, New York where she spent her early years before eventually settling in Lanoka Harbor, NJ and later Jackson, NJ.

A dedicated and hardworking woman, whom recently retired. Winnie spent many years working in Environmental Services at Care one and then Bartley Healthcare.

Winnie will be remembered as a tough, loving, and easy-going woman who found joy in life's simple pleasures.

She loved spending time with her daughters and grandchildren. She enjoyed writing poetry and was honored by the Poetry Society. She also enjoyed reading, playing games with both her children and grandchildren, such as Yahtzee, cards, stickers or anything the kids wanted to play.

Winnie had 4 children, her son Randy who was predeceased, and she is survived by her 3 loving daughters, Bridgette, April and Tara. Her 6 Grandchildren Amber, Justin, Eddie, Jacob, Jared and Jeremy. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren Joseph, Alyssa, Aria and Isla.

Winnie will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A service to celebrate Winifreds life will be held on Thursday, March 26th, 2025 from 3pm-6pm at TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home in Garnerville, NY .
